How can you plan when doing full time shift work, with a shift working partner and juggling children, not even the same shifts each week..... welcome to rotating rosters!! Out the window goes routines, and plans, add kids and everything they need.... like dinner, being taken to activities and part time jobs.... Where is the time to look after yourself. Convenience helps and this becomes a down fall.... lots of planning comes with changing habits, and will power and persuasion to drag the rest of the family with you. Consequently I am the only member of my family who is overweight..... I am also the only one who gave birth 4 times.... I do believe we mothers sacrifice a bit of ourselves for our family. I don't believe its fair that there are worse people out there than me, worse diets, more lazy.... and are much thinner.... but this is the hand I was dealt.... now I have to figure out just how to get back to me.
Since I started this, this morning I have been really good.... and accountable.... I even brought skinny milk for my iced latte before work tonight and healthy snax for night duty. I vow to not eat any biscuits or chocolate there may be on the ward, and only to drink tea or water..... no fruit juices..... and in the morning when I come home..... No toast.... just bed. If I am really good for the rest of the week... Mothers Day is Sunday and we might go out for breakfast.... mini reward.... then new goal to set.
Weigh every week for accountability..... going to start that on Sunday morning and record it.... and make the weeks goals.... this will be my first strategy, small steps, small goalposts..... one step at a time.... This weeks goal is just to make good choices until goal setting and weigh in day.
On a brighter note, the dogs and cats love me unconditionally fat, thin, rich, poor....
